Corral Night Ride – October 25 at 6pm This free fun ride will celebrate TAMBA’s partnership with the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship to build over 30 new features and jumps on Lower Corral Trail starting next spring. Costumes encouraged, lights required – although we will have limited rentals and demos by JetLites. Hot drinks and good times provided by TAMBA.
Angora Trail Build, South Lake Tahoe - October 5 (9am to 4pm)
CANCELED DUE TO GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN
Sunflower Hill Trail, Spooner State Park - October 6
Join us for some maintenance and final touches on the recently completed Sunflower Hill Trail in Nevada State Parks. There are a couple sections that were never completed to the desired standards by one of the local conservation crews. Now the park wants it fully done before we can start on the new Tunnel Creek-Red House connection. Meet at 9am at the end of Lakeview Road (off the south end of Washoe Valley) for a 4wd carpool/caravan up the hill. Due to the remote location, please bring a lunch.
Tyrolean, Incline Village – October 13 (9am to 4pm)
CANCELED DUE TO GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN
The fresh snowy conditions for Rose to Toads 2013 made this a ride we’ll be talking about for many years to come. Special, magical, amazing, and just wow were said over and over… with the occasional gripe about soggy clothes once the sun came out to melt the snow and get us muddy wet. The pace was slow, the vibe was high, and it was fun riding with everyone at some point. Some of us are still picking pieces of sand from our eyes and grit in our teeth, souvineers of an epic day.
If you’re interested in stats we’re still waiting for some final reports, but we had about 45 people start on Mount Rose at Tahoe Meadows, about 12 people finished at Toads (a few pushing darkness), and the rest completing at Van Sickle, Star Lake and Armstrong.
Thanks to the Jenay and Alison with Lake Tahoe Yoga for working the two rest stops along with Joe M – the hot coco and cup o soups were our savior. Thanks for the discounted shuttles from Max Jones at Flume Trail Bikes, and from Joe with Shuttle Around Tahoe – and thanks to all the good folks that support TAMBA, we put this ride on to get more members and bring more awareness of the Tahoe trails… Oh, and to have a super fun time too!

Here’s a quick photo recap of our TAMBA trail building day this past Saturday July 20th on the new Monument Trail.
This is a new trail in the high country above South Lake Tahoe on the back side of Heavenly. It’ll connect the top of Cold Creek Trail at High Meadow up to Monument Pass on the Tahoe Rim Trail. Once complete we’ll have an upper loop to Star Lake and even more connections and ride options.
We all have the US Forest Service to thank for working on this trail since last summer. The top and bottom are built but the middle section needs a lot of work still. The trail does not connect through, is totally unrideable and really not fun to hike-a-bike for the middle section. Hopefully it’ll be finished before snowfall this year. If you would like to volunteer with the USFS to help build this trail any day Monday through Thursday, please contact Jacob Quinn at (530) 543-2609 or via email jmquinn @ fs.fed.us
Rock work on a completed portion of the trail:
The views out to Freel Peak and Trimmer towards Star Lake and Toads are full on and even getter better on unbuilt portions of trail above here:
Weaving through boulders and old trees on a finished portion of trail:
There’s still a lot of new trail to build and big rocks to move into place:
The trail alignment is carefully placed between old growth trees in some places:
Moving boulders is awesome!
Staging area at High Meadow:
June 29th (Tahoe City): We’ll be hosting a trail day in conjunction with Adventure Sports Week. Meet at 9am at Tahoe XC at 925 Country Club Drive in Tahoe City. We’ll ride up to the worksite off of FS Road 16N49 and finish a connector trail between that trail and the TRT. Lunch will be provided by The Burrito Window as well as post work refreshments from TAMBA. The trail day is sponsored by Olympic Bike Shop and Gravity Shop.
UPDATE: Due to the heat, we’ll be making it a half day and cutting out around lunchtime. Also, the work location has been changed. Still meeting at Tahoe XC. You can still ride in to the worksite near the Fibreboard Freeway or we’ll be working out a 4WD carpool up there to save some time. Lunch is still provided by the Burrito Window!
